Mother Of Tears - This is Dario Argento's final installment in his horror trilogy concerning witches. See Suspiria (The Grade: A) and Inferno (The Grade: B) to fully appreciate this final flick. Those coming in without background on this Italian Director's classic past (unfortunately he hasn't done a truly good film in over 20 years; and the second installment, Inferno, came out in the early 80s.) will be repulsed and bored. Being a fan of the old work I can't help but cut him a little slack. Just a little though. This movie has a few inspired moments but for the most part is just recycled ideas. Oh well, I guess I'll buy the 3 movie box set and watch this barely acceptable film once every twenty five years. Mother of Tears is playing a limited engagement at the Ken Theater for only a week so catch it while you can. Rated R for gore and nudity.

The Grade: B-/C+

Sex and the City - In a lot of ways this film is critic proof. It was made for the fans of the t.v. show and if you're a fan you'll thoroughly enjoy it. I've seen all the episodes and this felt like me to be a good very long one. (It runs 2 hours and 22 minutes.) The writing is a bit weak in certain spots and the movie is extremely sad for about the middle hour but there are laugh out loud moments throughout. Overall, these girls still rock! Rated R.
